LDC Superior Round 1: Santiago Basket is defeated by Del Patio

The Regular Season in LDC Superior League just started. Here is the last round review presented by Trinity United.

Santiago Max - Baloncesto Fenix 84-90

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Santiago Max in Santiago on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Baloncesto Fenix 90-84. Baloncesto Fenix forced 11 Max turnovers. Albertson Pimentel (185-SG) stepped up and scored 22 points (!!!), 2 rebounds and 2 assists (on 16-of-19 shooting from the field) for the winners and combo guard Jefry Arias (182-G-1997) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side the forward Franklyn Jaquez (197-F-1997) responded with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists and Iriel Lopez (190-G-1989) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Baloncesto Fenix is looking forward to face Titanes at home in the next round. Santiago Max will play against Del Patio Basket and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

Del Patio Basket - Santiago Basket Titanes Dorado 88-85

The game between Top Four teams took place in Sameji Arena. Host Del Patio Basket rolled pass Santiago Basket Titanes Dorado 88-85. Del Patio Basket forced 19 Titanes turnovers and outrebounded them 45-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Santiago Basket Titanes Dorado' players. Del Patio Basket guard Hipolito Cabrera (186-SG) scored 23 points and 4 rebounds for the winning side and the American forward Ralph Bellamy (193-F, college: Harris-Stowe St.) accounted for 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Titanes guard Derek Majia came up big by scoring 24 points and 3 rebounds and forward Michael Tillman (195-G-1996, college: SUNY Adirondack) added 15 points respectively for Santiago Basket Titanes Dorado Titanes in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Del Patio Basket will play against Santiago Max at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Santiago Max will play against Baloncesto Fenix to get more than just one victory in their record.
